Just a quick message from Malcolm Law and his 7 in 7 Challenge There are seven spare places on the 7in7 Challenge Mal is going to allocate these to people who pledge to raise the most money by doing one of the runs with him. Full details are available at http://7in7.org.nz/join-the-challenge/ Its fun, its wacky, its trail running like never before&. its the Mizone 7in1 Challenge! And this is your personal invitation from Mal Law to join in the fun on October 18th. Hi there, By now you will probably have heard about the Mizone 7 in 7 Challenge - my rather audacious (some would say daft) plan to run NZs 7 mainland Great Walks in just 7 days. The ultimate goal of this venture is to raise $50,000 for the Leukaemia & Blood Foundation, a charity dear to my heart as I lost my brother to this cruel illness we he was just 13 years old. The support that I have been given by people from all over New Zealand, from all walks of life, runners and non-runners alike, has been phenomenal. My only regret has been that we cant make the 7in7 Challenge a bigger event in which more people could actively participate. But every cloud has a silver lining and this issue led to the idea for a new event something that people of all ages and all abilities could have fun doing and which would support the fundraising aims of the 7in7 Challenge. And thats how the 7in1 came to be born its a miniature version of its big brother, offering participants the opportunity, either individually or in relay teams of 2, 3 or 4 people, to run SEVEN lovely off-road trails but in ! just ONE day. The 7in1 Challenge is all about FUNdraising. It is not intended to be serious competition. Your runs wont even be timed. Instead you will collect tokens from checkpoints on each run and your tokens will have a randomly assigned points value. After completing all 7 trails you add up your points and this will determine whether or not you win a prize. So long as your team has collectively run all 7 trails you have a chance of winning, regardless of how fast or slow you do them. ALL PROCEEDS FROM THE EVENT GO THE LEUKAEMIA & BLOOD FOUNDATION OF NZ, and will count towards the 7in7 Challenges fundraising target of $50,000. Funds will be raised through: - Entry fees - Voluntary gold coin donations at checkpoints when collecting your tokens - Proceeds from sale of food, drinks and other merchandise at event HQ. The venue is private land near Parakai, just 50 mins from downtown Auckland and offers fantastic trail running, mostly on beautifully formed forest trails. There is something for everybody to enjoy so I hope to see you out there on October 18th. Have fun, keep fit, help a great cause&. what could be better?
